About
Horace Gregory was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. He was an American poet, literary critic, translator and professor. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1923. He served as a professor of English at Sarah Lawrence College from 1934 to 1960. He wrote several poems include: Chelsea rooming house, Chorus for survival, Medusa in Gramercy Park, and Another Look. He translated works of Catullus and Ovid. His nonfiction books include the essay collection The Dying Gladiators and Other Essays, Dorothy Richardson: An Adventure in Self-Discovery, and an autobiography called The House on Jefferson Street.
