Heinz Rudolf Pagels was born in New York City, New York, USA. He was an American physicist. He served as a adjunct professor of physics at Rockefeller University, the executive director and chief executive officer of the New York Academy of Sciences, and president of the International League for Human Rights. He obtained his Ph.D. in elementary particle physics from Stanford University under the guidance of Sidney Drell. He wrote several books include: The Cosmic Code, Computer Culture, Perfect Symmetry, and The Dreams of Reason.
