Greg Egan was born in Perth, Australia. He is an Australian science fiction novelist and writer. He earned a BS degree in Mathematics from the University of Western Australia. He specialises in hard science fiction stories with mathematical and quantum ontology themes, including the nature of consciousness. He has written several novels include: An Unusual Angle, Quarantine, Permutation City, Distress, Diaspora, Orthogonal, Teranesia, Schild's Ladder, Incandescence, and Zendegi. He has written several short stories include: Blood Sisters, The Moral Virologist, Luminous, and Neighbourhood Watch.
