Gillian Leigh Anderson was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. She is an American actress, activist, and TV director. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Theatre School at DePaul University, Chicago, in 1990. Her credits include the roles of FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in the long-running and widely popular series The X-Files. Among other honours, Anderson has won a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. Her role in several films including The Turning, The X-Files: Fight the Future, Playing by Heart, The House of Mirth, The Mighty Celt, The Last King of Scotland, The X-Files: I Want to Believe, Boogie Woogie, Shadow Dancer, Mr. Morgan's Last Love, Sold, and Robot Overlords.
