Georgie Hyde-Lees was born in Fleet, Hampshire, England. She was the daughter of Edith Ellen and Gilbert Hyde-Lees, and the wife of the Irish poet William Butler Yeats. She attended a number of schools in Knightsbridge, London art schools, studied languages and classics, and piano.
