Georges Joseph Christian Simenon was born in Liège, Belgium. He was a Belgian novelist. A prolific author who published nearly 500 novels and numerous short works, he is best known as the creator of the fictional detective Jules Maigret. He wrote several novels include: Maigret and the Yellow Dog, The Crime of Inspector Maigret, The Crime at Lock 14, Maigret in Holland, The Engagement, Tropic Moon, The Man Who Watched the Trains Go By, The Strangers in the House, The Widow, Dirty snow, Pedigree, Red Lights, Maigret Sets a Trap, The Little Man from Archangel, and The Bottom of the Bottle.
