George MacDonald was born in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. He was a Scottish novelist and poet. He wrote several novels include: The Princess and the Goblin, Phantastes, Lilith, The Princess and Curdie, Sir Gibbie, David Elginbrod, The Day Boy and the Night Girl, The Lost Princess, Mary Marston, Ranald Bannerman's Boyhood, The Gifts of the Child Christ, Alec Forbes of Howglen, and Warlock O' Glenwarlock. His poetry collection include: Within and Without, Exotics, Dramatic and Miscellaneous Poems, Diary of an Old Soul, The Threefold Cord, Scotch Songs and Ballads.
