Frederick Stephen "Fred" Upton was born in St. Joseph, Michigan, USA. He is an American politician. He is the U.S. Representative for Michigan's 6th congressional district, serving since 1987. He is a member of the Republican Party and Chairman of the Committee on Energy and Commerce. He earned a B.A. in journalism from the University of Michigan in 1975.
