Frank J. Gaffney, Jr. was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. He is an American political commentator, former Reagan administration official and a proponent of conspiracy theories. He is the founder and president of the Center for Security Policy, a group that has been described as an "extremist think tank" by The Hill. In 1975, he graduated from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service of Georgetown University. In 1978, he earned an M.A. degree from Johns Hopkins University's Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies. In April 1987, he was nominated to the position of Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs.
