Francisco Franco was born in Ferrol, Galicia, Spain. He was a Spanish general and leader of the conservative Nationalist military rebellion in the Spanish Civil War. From 1936 until his death in November 1975, he was the authoritarian head of state of Spain, when he used the title ‘El Generalissimo’. He was the youngest general in Spain and one of the youngest generals in Europe in the 1920s. He graduated from the Toledo Military Academy in 1910.
