About
Francis August Schaeffer was born in Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was an American Evangelical Christian theologian, philosopher, author, and Presbyterian pastor. He is most famous for his writings and his establishment of the L'Abri community in Switzerland. In 1935, he graduated magna cum laude from Hampden-Sydney College. He was the first student to graduate and the first to be ordained in the Bible Presbyterian Church. He served pastorates in Pennsylvania and St. Louis, Missouri. He wrote several books include: How Should We Then Live?, The God Who Is There, Escape from Reason, He Is There and He Is Not Silent, and A Christian Manifesto.
