Fannie Merritt Farmer was born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. She was an American cooking expert and writer. She was the author of six books about food preparation. She was a determined woman who overcame her physical limitations to achieve success in her field. She published her best-known work, The Boston Cooking-School Cook Book, in 1896. Her cookbook introduced the concept of using standardized measuring spoons and cups, as well as level measurement. She wrote several books include: Food and Cookery for the Sick and Convalescent, A New Book Of Cookery, Chafing Dish Possibilities, Catering for Special Occasions With Menus & Recipes, and The Fannie Farmer Cookbook.
