Erica Bauermeister was born in Pasadena, California, USA. She is an American author and novelist. She received a B.A. degree from Occidental College and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington. She has written three novels include: The School of Essential Ingredients, Joy for Beginners, and The Lost Art of Mixing. Her non-fiction works include 500 Great Books by Women: A Reader's Guide and Let's Hear It For the Girls: 375 Great Books for Readers 2-14. She has taught at both the University of Washington and Antioch University.
