Eric Robert Greitens was born in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. He is an American politician, soldier, and author. In 2005, he was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as a White House Fellow. He is one of four 2016 Republican candidates for Governor of Missouri. In 2014 Fortune Magazine listed him as one of the world's 50 greatest leaders. He earned a master's degree in development studies in 1998 and a D.Phil. in politics in 2000 from Oxford University. He is currently a lieutenant commander in the United States Navy Reserve, and he was deployed four times to Iraq, Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa, and Southeast Asia. He has written several books include: Strength and Compassion, The Heart and the Fist, and The Warrior's Heart.
