Emily Mitchell was born in London, England. She is a British-born American novelist and professor. Her novel The Last Summer of the World was named the Best Book of 2007 by Madison Capital Times, Providence Journal, and Austin American-Statesman. She obtained her Master of Fine Arts at Brooklyn College in New York City. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the English Department at the University of Maryland.
