Elizabeth McCracken was born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. She is an American novelist and short story writer. She earned a B.A. and M.A. in English from Boston University, an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa, and an M.S. in Library Science from Drexel University. She is the author of five books: Here’s Your Hat What’s Your Hurry, the novels The Giant’s House and Niagara Falls All Over Again, the memoir An Exact Replica of a Figment of My Imagination, and the forthcoming Thunderstruck & Other Stories. On March 4, She was named the winner of The Story Prize for Thunderstruck & Other Stories and received the top prize of $20,000. She has taught creative writing at Western Michigan University, the University of Oregon, the University of Houston, and the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
