Elinor Glyn was born in Saint Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands, UK. She was a British novelist and screenwriter who specialised in romantic fiction which was considered scandalous for its time. Her first book, The Visits of Elizabeth, was an epistolary novel. In 1916 she wrote The Career of Katherine Bush, the first novel in which her heroine was not of aristocratic birth. In 1920 she began her career as a screenwriter in Hollywood, where a number of her own novels were filmed, including Three Weeks and It. She has 28 story or screenwriting credits, three producing credits, and two credits for directing. Her first script was called The Great Movement and starred Gloria Swanson. The Third Eye was her last novel. She completed her autobiography, Romantic Adventure, in 1936.
