David Jon Gilmour was born in David Jon Gilmour. He is an English guitarist, singer, songwriter and record producer. He is best known for his work as the guitarist and co-lead vocalist of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd. In 2005, Gilmour was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his services to music. In 2011, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him number 14 in their list of the greatest guitarists of all time.
