Dale Bryan Murphy was born in Portland, Oregon. He is an American former Major League Baseball outfielder and first baseman. Murphy won consecutive National League Most Valuable Player Awards, the National League's Silver Slugger Award four straight years, and the National League's Gold Glove award five straight years. He is an inductee to the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame, Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, and World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame.
