Craig James Mundie was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He is an American senior advisor to Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft Corp. In this role, he works on key strategic projects within the company, as well as with government and business leaders around the world on technology policy, regulation and standards. Previously, he served as Microsoft’s chief research and strategy officer, where he oversaw Microsoft Research, one of the world’s largest computer-science research organizations, and was responsible for Microsoft’s long-term technology strategy, directing a number of technology incubations. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master's degree in Information Theory and Computer Science from Georgia Tech. In April, 2009, President Obama named Mundie as a member of his President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
