Chad Sugg was born in Clarksville, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He also known by the stage and recording name Backseat Goodbye, is an American pop-folk singer-songwriter and poet. His music has been described as "brilliant upbeat acoustic folk you can sing along, and listen to all day." As of 2009, Sugg had self-released 4 EPs, all of which he recorded and produced himself at his home studio. His first full length album "Dressed Up Like Dreams" was released through a distribution deal with The Militia Group. Soon after, he recorded his second full-length album, "The Good Years", in Poughkeepsie, NY with Alex Goot. Chad Sugg's first poetry book, Monsters Under Your Head, is often quoted to great lengths since its release thanks to the internet age. He has recently completed work on his third poetry book titled, The Endless Nothing, which will be released on March 3rd, 2015.
