Bruce Brown was born in San Francisco, California. He is an American documentary film director, known as an early pioneer of the surf film. Brown's films include Slippery When Wet, Surf Crazy, Barefoot Adventure, Surfing Hollow Days, Waterlogged, and his most well known film, The Endless Summer which received a nationwide theatrical release in 1966. He made a guest appearance in the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "SpongeBob vs. The Big One".
