Bob Ross was born in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was an American painter, art instructor, and television host. He was best known as the creator and host of The Joy of Painting, a television program that aired on PBS in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Ross enlisted in the United States Air Force at age 17. During Ross' stay in Alaska, he worked as a bartender part-time, when he discovered a TV show that was called The Magic World of Oil Painting, hosted by a German painter, named Bill Alexander. Ross was the host of the public television series The Joy of Painting.
