John Mason Brown was born in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. He was an American drama critic, journalist and author. He graduated from Harvard College in 1923. He worked for the New York Evening Post from 1929 to 1941. He served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II. He wrote column in The Saturday Review starting in 1944 until his death in New York City. He wrote several books include: To All Hands, The worlds of Robert E. Sherwood (biography), and Still seeing things.
