John Milton was born in London, England. He was an English poet, pamphleteer and historian, considered the most significant English author after William Shakespeare. He is best known for his epic poem Paradise Lost, written in blank verse. He earned a BA degree in 1629, and an MA degree in 1632 both from Christ's College, Cambridge. He wrote other poems include: Lycidas, L'Allegro, On the Morning of Christ's Nativity, Paradise Regained, and Samson Agonistes. His historical works, including The History of Britain, and A Brief History of Moscovia.
