John Churton Collins was born in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire, England. He was a British literary critic. He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford in 1872. He served as a professor of English literature at Birmingham University in 1904. He wrote several books include: Bolingbroke, The Study of English Literature, Essays and Studies, and Ephemera critica.
