John R. "Jack" Horner was born in Shelby, Montana, USA. He is an American paleontologist who discovered and named Maiasaura, providing the first clear evidence that some dinosaurs cared for their young. He is one of the best-known paleontologists in the World. He studied at the University of Montana and was awarded a Doctorate in Science honoris causa. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by Pennsylvania State University in 2006 in recognition of his work. His current research is focused on reactivating dormant dinosaur DNA in birds to hatch modern-day dinosaurs. He is the Regents Professor of Paleontology in the Honors College at Montana State University and the curator of paleontology at the university’s Museum of the Rockies. He served as the technical advisor for all of the Jurassic Park films, had a cameo appearance in Jurassic World. He has written several books include: Digging Dinosaurs, Digging Up Tyrannosaurus Rex, The Complete T. Rex, Dinosaur Lives, and Dinosaurs Under the Big Sky.
