François Lelord was born in Paris, France. He is a French psychiatrist and writer. He studied medicine and psychology; after getting his doctoral degree in 1985, he was a post-doctorate researcher with Robert Liberman at the University of California, Los Angeles. Since 2004, he has been working as a psychiatrist in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. He has written several books include: Hector and the Search for Happiness(novel), Hector and the Secrets of Love, Hector and the Search for Lost Time: A Novel, and Hector Finds Time.
