Jo Walton was born in Aberdare, Cynon Valley, Wales. She is a Welsh-Canadian fantasy and science fiction novelist and poet. She went to Lancaster University, graduating with a degree in Classics and Ancient History in 1986. She moved to Canada in February 2001. She has written several novels include: The King's Peace, The King's Name, The Prize in the Game, Tooth and Claw (Won- World Fantasy Award for Best Novel 2004), Farthing, Ha'penny (co-winner of the 2008 Prometheus Award), Half a Crown, Lifelode (Won- Mythopoeic Award 2010), Among Others (Won- Nebula Award for Best Novel 2011, Hugo Award for Best Novel 2012, and British Fantasy Award. Nomineted- World Fantasy Award for Best Novel), My Real Children (Won- Tiptree Award in 2014, Nomineted- World Fantasy Award and Aurora Award), The Just City, The Philosopher Kings, and Necessity. Her poetry collections, including Muses and Lurkers, and Sibyls and Spaceships.
