Izaak Walton was born in Stafford, England. He was an English author. Best known as the author of The Compleat Angler, he also wrote a number of short biographies that have been collected under the title of Walton's Lives. He moved to London, where he was a successful businessman. A supporter of the Royalist cause, after the English Civil War Walton retired and spent the final 40 years fishing, visiting friends, and writing.
