John Robert Walmsley Stott was born in London, England. He was an English Anglican priest who was noted as a leader of the worldwide evangelical movement. He studied modern languages at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he graduated with double first-class honours in French and theology. He also studied at Ridley Hall Theological College, Cambridge. He wrote several books include: Basic Christianity, Issues Facing Christians Today, Evangelical Truth, The Cross of Christ, The Contemporary Christian, The Incomparable Christ, Why I Am A Christian, and The Radical Disciple. He was appointed a Chaplain to Queen Elizabeth II in 1959. He was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the New Year Honours 2006.
