John Fletcher was born in Rye, Sussex, England. He was an English Jacobean playwright who collaborated with Francis Beaumont and other dramatists on comedies and tragedies between about 1606 and 1625. He studied at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University. He wrote several plays include: The Faithful Shepherdess, Valentinian, Monsieur Thomas, The Woman's Prize, Bonduca, The Chances, Wit Without Money, The Mad Lover, The Loyal Subject, The Humorous Lieutenant, Women Pleased, The Island Princess, The Wild Goose Chase, The Pilgrim, A Wife for a Month, and Rule a Wife and Have a Wife.
