Elizabeth Berg was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA. She is an American novelist. She studied English at the University of Minnesota, but later ended up with a nursing degree. Her writing career started when she won an essay contest in Parents magazine. She is the author of many bestselling novels, including Tapestry of Fortunes, Home Safe, The Year of Pleasures, and Dream When You're Feeling Blue, as well as two collections of short stories and two works of nonfiction. She won the New Engand Book Awards in 1997.
