Claire Conner McCaskill was born in Rolla, Missouri. She is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party who serves as the senior United States Senator from Missouri. Before her election to the U.S. Senate, McCaskill served as the State Auditor of Missouri from 1999 to 2007. She previously served as Jackson County Prosecutor from 1993 to 1998 and as a member of the Missouri House of Representatives from 1983 to 1989. She graduating in 1975 with a B.A. in political science. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law in 1978. In the summer of 1974, before graduating from the University of Missouri, McCaskill studied at the Institute on Comparative Political and Economic Systems at Georgetown University.
