What offends me the most when I hear criticisms about this so-called Africa bias is how quick we are to focus on the words and propaganda of a few powerful, influential individuals, and to forget about the millions of anonymous people who suffer from their crimes.

Fatou Bensouda was born in Banjul, Gambia. She is a Gambian lawyer, former advisor of Yahya Jammeh, international criminal law prosecutor and legal adviser. She has been the International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor since June 2012, after having served as a Deputy Prosecutor in charge of the Prosecutions Division of the ICC since 2004 and having been minister of justice of The Gambia. She graduated from the University of IFE with an Bachelor of Laws degree and obtained her Barrister-at-Law professional qualification from the Nigeria Law School.
