His role in several films include: True West, Places in the Heart (Nominated- Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor), Empire of the Sun, The Object of Beauty, In the Line of Fire (Nominated- Academy Award for for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, BAFTA Film Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role), Mulholland Falls, Con Air, Rounders, Being John Malkovich, Shadow of the Vampire, Hotel, The Libertine, Klimt, In Tranzit, Burn After Reading, Red, Secretariat, Warm Bodies, Red 2, Cut Bank, and Deepwater Horizon. He directed a film, entitled The Dancer Upstairs. He produced several films include: Ghost World, Juno, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
