James Matthes "Jim" Talent was born in Des Peres, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA. He is an American Republican politician and lawyer. He served as the United States Senator from Missouri (2002-2007). He served as a Chair of the House Small Business Committee from 1997-2001. He served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Missouri's 2nd district from 1993-2001. He was a member of the Missouri State House of Representatives from 1985-1993. He earned a BA degree in political science from Washington University, St. Louis in 1978. He earned a JD degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1981. He served as an Adjunct Professor at Washington University Law school in St. Louis from 1984-1986. He married Brenda Lee Lyons in 1984. They have one son and two daughters.
