Cedric Levon Richmond was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is an American politician in the Democratic Party who has been the U.S. Representative for Louisiana's 2nd congressional district since 2011. He graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School, Morehouse College, Tulane School of Law and the Harvard University executive program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. He was the Louisiana State Representative for District 101 from 2000 to 2011. He was the first candidate in the 2010 elections to have President Barack Obama appear in a television ad on his behalf.
