Christine Ellen "Chrissie" Hynde was born in Akron, Ohio. She is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter best known as the lead singer of the rock band The Pretenders. Hynde also developed an interest in the UK music magazine NME. She eventually saved enough money to move from Ohio to London in 1973. She has been the only constant member of the band throughout its history. She has also released a number of collaborations with other musicians – two of which reached No.1 in the UK Charts.
