Aron Ettore Schmitz , better known by the pseudonym Italo Svevo was born in Trieste, Italy. He was an Italian novelist and short story writer, a pioneer of the psychological novel in Italy. He is best known for his classic Modernist novel La Coscienza di Zeno, a work that had a profound effect on the movement. He wrote other novels include: Una Vita, Senilità, The nice old man and the pretty girl, and As a Man Grows Older. He wrote other books include: Corto viaggio sentimentale, A Perfect Hoax, and A life.
