Gillian Leigh Anderson was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. She is an American actress, activist, and TV director. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Theatre School at DePaul University, Chicago, in 1990. Her credits include the roles of FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in the long-running and widely popular series The X-Files. Among other honours, Anderson has won a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.
