John Ellis "Jeb" Bush Sr. was born in Midland, Texas, USA. He is an American banker and Republican politician who served as the 43rd Governor of Florida from 1999 to 2007. He is the second son of former President George H. W. Bush and a younger brother of former President George W. Bush. He graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. He earned a BA degree in Latin American affairs from the University of Texas in 1974. In 1974, he went to work in an entry-level position in the international division of Texas Commerce Bank, which was founded by the family of James Baker. In November 1977, he was sent to Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, to open a new operation for the bank, where he served as branch manager and vice president. In 1980, he moved to Florida and pursued a career in real estate development. In 1986, he became Florida's Secretary of Commerce until 1988.
