John Abney Culberson was born in Houston, Texas, USA. He is an American Republican politician and lawyer. He is the U.S. Representative from Texas's 7th congressional district, serving since 2001. He was elected to the Texas House of Representatives. He earned a BA degree in History from Southern Methodist University in 1981. He earned a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from South Texas College of Law in 1989. He began working for the law firm of Lorance and Thompson as a civil defense attorney after he graduated from South Texas. He married Belinda Burney in 1989. They have one daughter.
