James Joseph Croce was born in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He was an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. He was a folk and rock singer of the late 1960s and early 1970s. His songs "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" and "Time in a Bottle" reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. He earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Villanova University in 1965. His albums list shown below: Facets, Jim & Ingrid Croce, You Don't Mess Around with Jim (singles: "You Don't Mess Around with Jim", "Operator (That's Not the Way It Feels)", and "Time in a Bottle"), Life and Times (singles: "One Less Set of Footsteps", "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown", and "It Doesn't Have to Be That Way"), I Got a Name (singles: "I Got a Name", "I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song", and "Workin' at the Car Wash Blues"). On Thursday, September 20, 1973, during Croce's Life and Times tour and the day before his ABC single "I Got a Name" was released, Croce and five others died when their chartered Beechcraft E18S crashed into a tree, while taking off from the Natchitoches Regional Airport in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
