James Dudley Houston was born in San Francisco, California, USA. He was an American novelist. He wrote nine novels and a number of non-fiction works. He earned a bachelor’s degree in drama at San Jose State University in 1956 and the next year married Ms. Wakatsuki. He received a master’s degree in American literature at Stanford University in 1962. He wrote several books include: Between Battles(novel), A Native Son of the Golden West(novel), Gig(novel), Farewell to Manzanar(with Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston), Continental Drift(novel), Californians(with Gerald Haslam, won- American Book Awards), Eagle Song(with James Archibald Houston), In the ring of fire, The Last Paradise(novel, won- American Book Awards), Snow Mountain passage(novel), and Bird of Another Heaven(novel).
