James Broadbent was born in Lincolnshire, England. He is an English actor. He studied at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. His early stage work included appearances as Patrick Barlow's assistant in the mock National Theatre of Brent. His role in several films include: The Shout, Breaking Glass, The Hit, Running Out of Luck, Life Is Sweet, Princess Caraboo, The Secret Agent, Little Voice, Topsy-Turvy, Moulin Rouge! (Won- BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actor), Iris (Won- Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor), Nicholas Nickleby, The Damned United, Another Year, and The Iron Lady. His role in television include: Walter (TV film), The Peter Principle (TV series), The Gathering Storm (TV film, Nominated- Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor, Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor), The Young Visiters (TV film), The Street ( TV series), Longford (TV film, Won- British Academy Television Award for Best Actor, Golden Globe Award for Best Actor), Any Human Heart (TV series), and The Great Train Robbery (TV film).
