Edward Gene "Ed" Rendell was born in New York City, New York. He is an American lawyer and politician who served as the 45th Governor of Pennsylvania, from 2003 to 2011. Rendell, a member of the Democratic Party, served as mayor of Philadelphia from 1992 to 2000. He was elected District Attorney of Philadelphia for two terms from 1978 through 1986. He served as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee during the 2000 presidential election. He served as the Chairman of the National Governors Association.
