Harry Mason Reid was born in Searchlight, Nevada, USA. He is an American politician and lawyer. He was a member of the Nevada State Assembly for Clark County's 4th district from 1969-1971. He served as the 25th Lieutenant Governor of Nevada from 1971-1975. He was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Nevada's 1st congressional district from 1983-1987. He serves as a United States Senator from Nevada, since 1987. A member of the Democratic Party, he serves as the United States Senate Minority Leader since January 2015. Reid is one of only three Senators to serve at least eight years as Majority Leader. He served as the Senate Minority Whip and Majority Whip. He graduated from Utah State University where he double majored in political science and history. He earned a J.D. degree from George Washington University Law School.
