Herbert Jay Solomon, known by his stage name Herbie Mann was an American jazz flautist. Early in his career, he also played tenor saxophone and clarine, but Mann was among the first jazz musicians to specialize on the flute. His most popular single was "Hijack", which was a Billboard No. 1 dance hit for three weeks in 1975. In 1959, following a State Department sponsored tour of Africa, he recorded Flautista!, an album of Afro-Cuban jazz. His albums list shown below: Memphis Underground, Push Push, Our Mann Flute, Stone Flute, Muscle Shoals Nitty Gritty, Super Mann, Surprises, Memphis Two-Step, Mississippi Gambler, Bird in a Silver Cage, Today!, Sultry Serenade, and Hangout.
