Christopher Samuel "Kit" Bond was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He is an American lawyer and politician. He is a former United States Senator from Missouri and a member of the Republican Party. Before his career in the U.S. Senate, Bond served two non-consecutive terms as Governor of Missouri, from 1973 to 1977 and from 1981 to 1985. He was previously State Auditor of Missouri from 1971 to 1973. He graduated from Deerfield Academy in 1956, Princeton University in 1960, and the University of Virginia School of Law in 1963. From 1964 to 1967, Bond practiced law at Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C.
